Five More Agree Terms |
Tuesday 22th Dec, 2009As December winds its way towards the Christmas/New Year break the business of putting a squad together has been continuing quietly for the Brisbane Strikers in the absence of head coach Stuart McLaren, who has been on a family holiday in Scotland.
In McLaren’s absence assistant coach David Large has been putting a host of familiar faces and triallists through their pre-season paces and the squad has slowly but surely been taking shape, with five more players agreeing terms to be part of the Strikers’ defence of their QSL title in 2010.
The midfield, in particular, is shaping up as one that will combine experience, proven quality and guile with pace and youthful ambition. The club will be delighted to welcome back Chay Hews and Chris Di Sipio, both of whom were integral to last season’s championship-winning campaign and have agreed terms for 2010, while three new faces will also join the squad.
Former Brisbane City midfielder Brad McDonald, former Brisbane Roar youth team wide man Michael Angus (described by McLaren as “a real flying machine”) and former Logan United goalkeeper Seb Usai have all agreed to don the yellow and blue playing strip of the Strikers in 2010.
The club has also accepted its invitation to compete in the Malabar United international club tournament in India early next year.
