Perry Park Gains International Clientele |
Wednesday 24th Feb, 2010The Brisbane Strikers’ efforts to rejuvenate the playing surface of Perry Park since the 2009 Hyundai QSL season ended have received their first vote of confidence, with the home of Queensland football set to become the training venue for the Indonesian men’s and North Korean women’s football teams over the coming week.
With the Indonesians in Brisbane for the vital Asian Cup qualifier against the Socceroos at Brisbane Stadium next Wednesday, and the Koreans preparing for a two-match series against the Matildas at Ballymore, Football Federation Australia has scouted Brisbane’s football grounds for the right kind of playing surface and environment for the visitors to train on.
Strikers Director Ray Evans said today that Perry Park’s combination of a quality playing surface, proximity to Brisbane’s hotels and its availability had gained it the FFA’s seal of approval.
The Indonesians will train there on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, before vacating the grounds for the North Koreans to conduct their own training session there, also on Monday.
