Sadler To Miss Bulls Homecoming

Thursday 11th Mar, 2010

Former Far North Queensland Bulls player Rylan Sadler looks likely to miss out on the opportunity to wear the colours of the Brisbane Strikers against his old club this Saturday, with injury keeping him out of the squad to travel to Mareeba for a pre-season friendly.

Brisbane Strikers coach Stuart McLaren said today that the fullback, who played the first half against the Capricorn Cougars in the 3-3 draw last Friday, had picked up a slight hamstring strain and the weekend would “arrive too soon” for Sadler, who had been keen to return home for the game.

Sadler is one of two Brisbane Strikers players who were particularly looking forward to playing against the Bulls. The other is centre back Jason Shade, who grew up in Mareeba and will make the trip barring any mishaps at training on Thursday night.

In recent weeks the Strikers have been without the services of Reagan Alder, Ryan Mottin and Jordan Mason. But in better news for the coaching staff midfielder Mason, who was in excellent form during the Silver Boot tournament won by the Strikers last month, is ready to make his return to the playing field and will travel north with the squad.
